I like the facial expression and the light there. I don't care for the shoulder in the foreground. I don't think it's flattering for her at all. But you did catch some emotion in the eyes.

Yeah, you are highlighting the shoulder, and her arm looks really big just because of the angle, and positioning.

Not bad, but ask her to put her hands behind her back, and use a little unsharp mask - it's slightly out of focus, or there's a little motion blur going on. I'd try and downplay the shoulder too.

We are used to parents/uncles/aunts...etc taking photos of their kids. It's nice to see the reverse :D
Like the photo, and your mom looks like a lovely lady, best wishes to her.

Thanks guys! The shot was just a snap while they were camping this past weekend.

I'll bet your Mother liked it, and as they say you don't see the next generation taking pic's of my generation, give your Mother a copy, and a hug and you have made her day.

I've seen that expression before with my mom - right before she said if "if you point that thing at me one more time....." I would do a little USM vodoo on it... the eyes are just subtly soft... but heck - it is a dang fine candid family picture that doesn't look like a snap shot and really doesn't need it either.
