i live near an AF and i want to know what lens you used. thats some badass shots! prolly a lens that costs more than my yearly salary! haha! but what would it be?

the mcdonnell douglas f-15c eagle is my favorite fighter plane of all time, though the one pictured i believe is the f15e. second in the running is the f22 raptor, only because of the fact that the eagles have soared and have been the leading fighter plane for decades before the raptor has been built.

dont get me wrong, i like the typhoons as well, its just that the style and ergo just doesnt suit me.

nice shots!

Panda_stunter.

I use a 300mm F4 L IS which I bought for £600 (about $1000?) on a 50D body, would love the F2.8 though ;).

Thanks in advance

Is there any particular day of the week / time of the day for getting shots in the loop? My son is working as an outdoor pursuits instructor at a centre just outside Mold which is not far away. His contract expires in March and so I thought I would combine collecting him with a side trip to the loop. As I have a lot of health issues I would only really be able to make one climb up from a car park so knowing the spot with the best chances of some good shots would be useful. At least my son can hump all the gear up the mountain for me!! Maybe even carry me up as well :).

Hi Alan.

There is no set flying schedule other than Mon-Fri (base closures excluded) during hours of visibility. I go with the expectation of seeing nothing and any aircraft are a bonus.
My location recommendation for you would be Cad East which you can drive almost to the the top followed by an easy short walk.
Have a look at this forum www.fox2.co.uk for more information and stunning photography.
If you need any more info drop me a PM.

Hi,

I'm looking to take a trip over to the mach loop.

Looking at the videos I've seen most of the photographers seem to have pretty big lenses, but I only have an EFS 18-55 and a tamron 70-300mm (starter lenses really). Looking to learn basically and see what I can do - do you reckon these lenses are big enough to get some decent(ish) shots or should I wait until I have something better?

Also would you recommend Cad East or Cad West?

Cheers.
