I have been having probs with a new battery and in my research on it I read that digital cameras like the s30 and s40 and more suck the battery even when power is off...

so are we expected to leave the battery out of the camera when not used? if so why the heck doesn't canon advise users of this - or have they? ? / ?

thoughts?

thanks

I haven't found there to be a problem with my A40.

Hi Bongo,

It all depends on how long you leave your camera lying around before you next use it. If it is just overnight then I can't see a problem with leaving the batteries in the camera. On the other hand if it is going be a few days before you next use the camera I would take the batteries out. A small amount of the batteries power is drained from them but it is tiny. In the manual that came with my Canon A40 it does advise to remove them.
