My wife is going to the Philippines for one month. We live in the USA where the electic is 110; the Philippines is 220.

She has real good rechargeable batteries and will recharge them before leaving the USA. Instead of trying to find a 110 to recharge the "good" batteries I told her to use disposable battieries once the "good" batteries run dry.

I this a good plan?

PS. She also has a 1GB flash card.

there are a lot of good 110/220 V (can be used on both 110 and 220V source)chargers here. 4 alkaline batteries here cost about $2. the charger cost only about $10 with free 4 rechargeable batteries. depends really on how often she'll be using the camera.

disposal baterries have much lower power capacities than NiMH rechargable ones. It would be much cheaper to pickup a whole charger and battery package. Perhaps your recharger is autovolt, meaning it can handle both 110 and 220... maybe you should check that first. Or if she is going to stay in a really good hotel (1st class), they'd have 110 outlets in the room.

Most camera chargers are multi-voltage Usually from 100-240v. If that is the case with yours, you can probably pickup adapters for under $10 from any local shop that will allow you to plugin your charger into any outloet in almost any country. You can also get vortage coverters but they are a bit more expensive. If you charger can handle the voltage, then just get the front plug converters.
