I looked at the same lens today at Ritz Camera in the mall. I haven't looked online yet for prices. How much did you pay for it? Ritz was selling it for $590. Does that sound right??? I'm considering the 60mm. I do a lot of flower photography too. Also food photos. But I really like your shots.

I think Ritz is about the highest price around. I paid $525 in Anchorage and believe me nothing is cheap here. I know you can do better at Buydig or B&H.

Don't buy it from ritz! I bought this lens from ritz when I bought my 20D. Cost me $600.00 plus the cost of the filter and stuff. Absolutely rediculous! Once I saw the price on www.bhphoto.com I returned it the next day. This is definately the best macro lens you can buy though. Other than the 180mm f/3.5L which is waaayyyy more pricey.
Anyway, great shots! Love the first, the back ground is absolutely stunning.
And, if your going to buy this lens, buy it here. $450.00 after rebates. You'll probably want to get a UV filter and a lens hood for it though. That'll cost you another $53.00 but it's worth it.

Great lens, but actually, you were a bit too close. Back up a bit and you will get more dof and more detail. Also, use a diffuser and you will be happier with the end product. The first shot has some burnout. Once you get past the shock of seeing how much detail you can get with that lens, you will start taking some really good shots. have fun

#2 was very suprising and dramatic. Nice work. You'll have a great time with this lens and remember it's not for Macro use only. Experiment and you will be rewarded. Can't wait to see more of your work.

Mine was $430 shipped from Dell. Nice pics, esp. for a first try. Lot nicer than my first try! Macro takes a lot of practice.

I found one gently used w/hood for $385 shipped. Check the for sale forums. When new dell coupons come out, it can get down around 450, but I've seen it for 450 on B&H, etc..
