View Full Version : Snowboarding/Skiing - Capitalize At The Clocktower - Ottawa, Ontario

I was out yesterday at the event with the Mark III, 50D and 2 580 EX II Speedlight Flashes and I think I did pretty good for the first time shooting snowboarding/skiing and my first time with the Mark III and Flash. I used a 200 f/2.0 IS and a 28-135 f/3.5 IS. 200 was on the Mark III and 28-125 was on the 50D/Mark III. With the 200 and Mark III, the images were shot at 1/250 at f/2.0 and ISO 800. The 28-135 was mostly shot on 1/200-250 at f/3.5-5 and ISO 1600 and 2000 on the 50D and Mark III. I had an access pass and got free redbull energy drink!

numbers 1 and 3 are very prime; could expect them in a mag.
It looks like the one's in black and white didn't turn out as nicely, the colours seem to work well to separate the border from the background.
Need more skiers aswell!

Need more skiers aswell! Thanks! I think number 1 and 3 are really good as well and they do look like they can be in a magazine. Originally number one was a bit more blown out from the light, but I lowered the exposure and saturation and adjusted a few things and I loved the outcome.

5 and 7, nice looks of intense concentration.
4 and 6, the flash is really blasting them in the face.

From where? :rolleyes: Where is it cold enough to make snow? Most likely Hockey Rinks. There are piles of it. It's getting colder here by the week now so I don't know why people think it's too warm to keep snow.
