I have the 681b as well. I'm 6'6". I bought one for my dad who is 6'2" and it works great for both of us. It's easily and quickly adjustable.

I'm 6'3", and quite happily use a Velbon RUP-40 Monopod with a Manfrotto 234RC Monopod Tilt Head. With a gripped 30D/50D the viewfinder is at eye level.

Also good for beating off drop bears when out bushwalking...

The Manfrotto 681 or 681B is a great relatively inexpensive monopod which will support a large amount of weight and is tall enough to be comfortable for a tall person using it (I am 6'1"). It is relatively light weight, 1.7 pounds, especially for an aluminum monopod. The one shortfall of this pod is that it will not fold down shorter than 26.4 inches which sometimes makes it difficult to transport easily.

I bought a Calumet 8103 Carbon Fiber monopod which is lighter weight (.95 pounds) and collapses to 20.25" which makes it easier to travel with - especially when traveling by air. It is also plenty tall enough for me to comfortably use.

As per manufacturers recommendations, the Manfrotto will support 26.5 pounds and the Calumet will support 30 pounds. I usually halve the manufacturer's recommendations but, even so - both of these pods will support a large lens and DSLR camera.

The Manfrotto 681B is half the price of the Calumet.

I don't like ball heads for monopods. I use a Kirk MPA-1 monopod head which is a Manfrotto 3232 head with a Kirk Arca Compatible Q.R. Clamp. My tripod head is Arca Compatible and this way I can use the same plates for both tripod and monopod.
