1/400, f/1.8, IS0 200, 50mm

The f/1.8 was a mistake and I changed it to 3.something later but it slowed my shutter speed way down even when i bumped up the iso to 400 :-/

Out of the 250 some odd pictures I took there were only 5 that were usually due to him not being in focus.

I was literally chasing him the whole time lol

I had my camera on AI servo which i think may have been wrong?

Any suggestions or tips? i was really disappointed :(

Looks like he was having fun. Hard for me to tell but looks like motion blur to me and maybe not enough DOF. Only way I know to fix motion blur is faster shutter or flash.

Don't be afraid to bump that ISO up... especially in scenes lit as good as this one. I would definitely not worry about bumping up to ISO 800 to get the shutter speed fast enough to freeze the image. For a shot like this one, I would try to get at LEAST f/5.6 or higher. Anything lower than that and you run the risk of a soft (or even blurry) shot.

I hope this helps... even if just a bit!

AI servo is fine, fast shutter is the only way to get the motion freeze.
