Unfortunately I'm afraid that both images seem unsharp and rather lacking in composition. Primates are generally a waste of time because you are as a rule photographing through another layer of glass which further degrades the image. The zebra would've worked better if you'd fully filled the frame with his hind quarters.
This close up reached the finals of a photography magazine competition and has been adopted by a myspace member.

I like the first image in terms of how the elements are arranged and grouped. It has a nice feel to it from my POV, which is not traditional to say the least. I like the large open space counterweight (on the right and lower right) in balance to the busy activity in the upper left corner. The highlights are a bit blown out so the lighting is a challenge. The fur is OOF which might be better in focus.
While I like the zebra the framing is a little more challenging visually due to content and placement.
