I see so many recommending profiling your printer for various papers and am curious to know what tools are being used. Do you have software to do create them yourself or pay others to create the profiles. It seems that everyone says this is a necessary step for proper color management but I have not been able to find a lot of information on specifically how to accomplish it. I have clibrated my crt monitor (older but still within calibration parameters) using the Spyder2 and print with a Canon 9100 primarily on Ilford Classic gloss and pearl papers. I cannot get a match in the prints - even using Canon's Photo Paper Pro. I have tried numerous settings - with ICM on and off - with the supplied Ilford profiles - in Qimage and PSE3. Some photos are closer than others but none are what I expect.

I tried a topic on Profile Prism (sodl by the company that sells Qimage) but maybe it was just too specific. It looks like a great program and I am surprised that there has not been more of a response on the topic - maybe there is a better option out there. What do you use?

I've used Profile Prism for about a year and a half to profile my six printers.
I am very happy with the results, there is a learning curve associated with the program as with any new software, it shouldn't take long to get used to the software. You might want to check the Profile Prism web site out.
