Gopher Snake

This four foot Gopher Snake was wondering in my back yard. It gave me quite a start. Harmless to humans, it is an important predator on mice and other rodents. I took its photo with my Canon 20D with Tamron 28-75. The head shot at 75 mm and the length shot at 28 (still could not get the entire snake in view) then it disappeared under the neighbor's fence.

Thanks. With the second head shot I was about two feet away, I had to keep moving with him, fortunately the snake wasn't in a big rush. It finally went under the fence into the neighbor's yard.
