lighting seems to be pretty good on the first one. Not a lot of detail on the second photo. I think if you had a telephoto you could really take some amazing shots.

I know! But my telephoto is hopefully gonna be bought soon! :) just the financial part is delaying it! LOL

I like the first one, but the mountains sorta distract. Maybe a tigther crop of the biker?

Personally, I would have liked the first shot taken a split second later, so the rider was framed between the trees, and the flash looks a little bit bright on his face. Nice turndown though. The shot looks pretty mint overall.

Second shot, ambient is way too dark in comparison, and the flash missed his rear wheel.

First is nice "scenery" shot, but could potentially have a better angle and framing.

Second needs more ambient and to be a lot tighter.

Also a table/flatty/whatever you want to call it, not a turndown. Knees could be closer together and hips rolled over a bit more to get the knees on the frame. :p

Oops, that's awkward, I don't know why I said turndown.. I guess my head's not all there (DNA cloning report is getting to me).

I'd be tempted to clone out the strobe/tripod in both of them.

I like the first one A LOT. Having said that, It may have been better to take the pic from a lower viewing angle, perhpaps even on the ground. It would be nice to have the bike above the mountains, as long as you can still get the whole valley in the shot as well.

I was as low as i could get because the spot where i was shooting form was uphill of the jump. i only had the camera about a foot off the ground lol
