So my son plays in the middle school band. Every time he came to a rest in the music, he would reach back and twirl his stick, like and old west gunslinger. I shot a rapid series of 5 pics and pasted them together, to get this (http://www.pbase.com/davideb/image/44220363).
the original 5 shots are in the same gallery as the collage, along with a few others from the same concert. I did have to photoshop in the stick head in shot #3 as it's behind the metal chimes. These were all done with the Sigma 70-200 at f4, ISO800, 1/100 sec, and a monopod.
Comments welcome, especially on how I can make the breaks between the frames clearer.
thanks

Nah, I don't like it, sorry. Too disembodied with just the arm and the bongy thing.

I am with tim. Sorry. I wonder how it would look to collate all the frames together?!? I have done one photo of my son as below.

That looks really good, can I ask how that is done?

I like Boutty's idea. I tried something similar, but it really didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Maybe somebody with more talent or more time could get better results.
I just used the magnetic lasso to seperate the arm in the first four images, then overlayed that onto the fifth one. you can ajust the opacity and layer order for better results, probably.
If you took some time with it and did it right, it might be able to work. With one like Boutty's, I would want to play around with making the first two images of the child slightly transparent. If the first one had an opacity around 30% and the second was about 60%, maybe that would give more of an impression of motion. Very cute, though. :)

Thanks for the suggestions and, MCB, thanks for the effort you put into it. I'll play with it a bit, but am not sure the overlapping hands tell the story either.
oh, well, all ideas can't all be winners.

Hi witchy, glad you like it. My collage obviously made out of three shots - used the 1st picture with my son on top of the slide as a background then extracted my son body only from the 2nd shot and added the the 1st. The same technique for the last one but included part of the slide showing his shadow as well. Pretty much 'cut' and 'paste' job in Photoshop really. http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the tips. Pity I have flatten the image already. I'll keep this in mind though. Cheers, John http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/tongue3.gif
