Decent zoom, great quality photos, not too big and video is not a factor.

Woolburr likes his SX20, and he has a bunch of EOS bodies. IIRC he has an SX110 as well and used that a bunch before he moved to the "bigger" camera. I use the SX1 IS and A630 (no longer available).

SX200is

I just picked up an SX10is for the low low price of $289CDN - Best Buy was blowing them out for 389 but this one was a demo model.

The G9 doesn't meet the criterion of "not too big."

I'd recommend the ZX3. It's small, has 25-300mm zoom, and plays "music" to accompany its slide show. It's not hi-fi, but it adds interest to the presentation.
