Is there a way to take a picture of the sun with definition as opposed to the blob that usually comes out on the pic? I'd prefer a way w/out filters, but open to them as well.

Don't know about taking pictures directly of the sun, 99% certain that it will damage your camera even if you use filters.

You have to be really careful assuming you don't want to go blind, but there definitely is a way to do it. To quote from the web site below: "If you are taking pictures of the sun you MUST use a full aperture solar filter or you could ruin your camera, your telescope or YOUR EYES!!!"

There are a number of people who sell these things, look on any of the major astronomy sites for details.
