I use smugmug to sell photos and although I like the easy use of smugmug very much I find my page kinda boring. In the near future I want to break away from SMUGMUG and have a separate website for portfolio and pricing, but keep SMUGMUG for the e-commerce set-up. I added a slide show today and I am not sure how I feel about the direction I am taking it. Thoughts?

I would first upgrade your account so you can get your own domain name through godaddy (they are partnered with smugmug) Look through the Digital Grin Photo forum and check out the customization forum. Get ideas from others on there that use smugmug and determine where you want your site to be.

I use smugmug, it took me a year to get my site to how I like it and I'm still playing around with things.

Edit: you can also get your e-mail under your domain name with godaddy. Better than a xxxxx.smugmug.com or xxx@gmail.com

If you have the Power or Pro account you can use your own domain. Just go buy a GoDaddy domain here and we'll automatically set up the DNS settings for you: www.smugmugdomains.com

As for customizing, have you tried the EZ Customizer? This guy just sent me his site he did all with the EZ method: http://brisbanepropertyphotos.com.au

He has a link under tutorial where he shows people how.

I also have a lot of customization companies out there that will do it for a modest fee if you want to hire them. Let me know if you want some names?
