View Full Version : PowerShot A400: Slow?

I have a PowerShot A400 that I absolutely _love_ for everything it does. Recently, though, it seems as if the time between when I take one picture and when I can take the next is increasingly long. Is there anything I can do to speed this up? Do I need to put in fresh batteries, defrag the SD card (;)), etc?
Thanks for the help.

Hmm, it's not something I've heard of before but I hope you're using high capacity (eg 2500mah) recharable NIMH AAs (as I said in another thread lol) and not disposables. Reason being, disposables are designed to cope with a slow, continuous power discharge, whereas when you turn on your digital camera, you get a sudden burst of high power and the disposables don't like this.
As for your SD card, every time you print your photos/ burn them onto CD/ transfer them onto your computer etc, instead of just deleting all the images from your card you need to format it or you could get problems with it corrupting and hence losing all your pictures. If you've never formatted your card or if it's a long time since you did it last, try this and see if it helps. However, MAKE SURE you have the images on the card backed up somewhere as they will be completely irretrievable one it's been formatted.

Muffin -- I did recently throw in some disposables instead of my rechargables (I was travelling and away from the recharger). I'll try the NIMH again and we'll see what happens.
Thanks!

How do you defrag your card?
