If you are using the "Discharge" feature the charge will run each cell down until it decides they are fully discharged and will then automatically start charging them up individually again. The display you currently see is the discharge current, so they are not run down yet. Just leave them on the charger until each cell says "Full", at which point the charger will go into trickle mode until you are ready to use them. Since each cell is treated individually you may see different things at different times for each cell.

Uh, did you try reading the manual that came with it? Seems like a logical first step.

manual, shmanual, I hate 'em. ;)I have the same charger and have no idea how to use it. It's too confusing. But alls I do is put the batteries in and wait for the full to appear. I never discharged them and they work just fine.

whats the point of have the LaCrosse charger if you're not going to take advantage of its capabilities?
read the manual, learn how the mAh differences can affect charging rates.
Understand when and how to use the refresh setting.

You must read the manual to get the full use out this charger.
Once you get it into discharge mode you can set the rate of the discharge. Once the batteries are discharged, the charge cycle will start automatically.

this is a great little charger, works great with my Sanyo Eneloop. Make note of the fix if BC-900 will not charge a completely drained cell (display says 'null' after you insert the cell)..i've had this happen once:

I think we can all agree on that. :p
You may be better off with one of the less complicated rechargers, such as the ones sale at Radio Shack right now.

What exactly are you having trouble with, with the charger?

how will i know if the batteries are fully discharged? it was already answered.,it will automatically charge.
my next question is, if i discharge w/ refresh, it will charge automatically?

The refresh cycle can take days and should not be used for normal daily/weekly charging. It will drain the batteries (20-28 hours?) then recharge them (10-14 hours?) and repeat that cycle maybe 2,3,4 times until it discovers that no better performance can be obtained from the batteries. So a "Refresh" could take up to almost a week for one set of high capacity batteries.
For normal charging you just stick the batteries in the machine and leave them there until the charger says "Full". If you want to do a "mini refresh" then use the "Discharge" function to drain and then recharge just once.
Always go with the long, slow 200mA charge rate unless you need the batteries to be ready faster. Slow charging is kinder to the batteries.

oh crap!? so ill just discharge my battery then wait for the battery to be charged. tnx for that info! yeah., i just charge with 200mA, its ok if it will take 12 hrs.

Why do you feel the need to discharge them? What is wrong with simply sticking them straight on to charge? If you discharge and then recharge you'll still have a long wait for the discharge to complete, unless the batteries are close to empty already.
If you don't have 12 hours to spare (might be a lot longer if you discharge first) then you could increase the current, but try not to let the batteries warm up too much. It is heat that damages them, which is why higher charge rates are to be avoided if possible. So find a cool place to charge them, not in a sunny window or on top of a radiator.

^i want to drain/discharge first before i charge them on my bc-9009 and the bettery i am discharging are not yet drained yet. and... i want to compare the performance of the battery being fully charged w. bc-9009 to my old charger only while waiting for my eneloop batteries on the way

I have a question. What's the difference between the BC-900 and the BC-9009? They both seem to have identical specs and accessories. The only difference seems to be the shade of blue in the pictures.

one comes with batteries, the other doesn't. AFAIK they are both identical.

Interesting. They show both as coming with the same batteries, adapters and case at Thomas Distributing and they are the same price.
Guess I'll just buy them then! Thanks!

i remember reading some rumors that they changed the model number because of some bad reviews (melting, fire hazard).

IIRC the BC-900 has an "extra step" for higher voltage rate (i.e. faster charging). I have both the 900 and 9009, but I always use the slowest rate on both of them so I dont recall exactly.
EDIT: My mistake, the different charging rates are between the 900 and 700, not the 9009. Sorry for the confusion.

We are observing the same phenomenon as VCRs whose clocks are blinking, preventing the VCR from recording a program at some time in the future, without someone there to press the buttons!

Yep, I do. Dopes like me can't figure them out. They're just too confusing. So they stopped selling them to the idiots of the world like me.:o
