Which lens in your opinion, is the best for portraits?

Don't have the 35 yet (coming next week!!) but the 50F1.4 is a great little portrait lens......good for upper body shots (depending on your camera) and is very well built and optically on par with most L lenses.........a bargain for the price even though the 50F1.8 II is no slouch in the bargain department either!!!

I'd not use a 35mm lens for portraits, I prefer to use at least 50mm, and preferably longer if I can manage it. Being further away is more flattering for the subject. I use my 70-200 some times, or my 100mm macro at other times.

Just don't get TOO far away :) The 50mm 1.4 and 60mm 2.8 are perfect portrait lenses with our crop factor. the 100 is a tad long at cropped 160mm. It won't flatten features too bad, but you have to be quite a ways away from the subject for your shots which can be good and bad.
