I added the shadow to the right as a gradiant, as I thought the original looked a little flat. Does it work for you, or any suggestions on how I could improve this pic....

It's too unnatural. You can tell it doesn't look real. The lighting is just too consistent for it to look real.

It definately doesn't natural and the image looks flat.
Accomplishing that lighting effect wouldn't be difficult with a well placed light.

I have to agree with the others, it doesn't look natural.

The shadowing is annoying. And it appears that the right eye didn't get shadowed.

Tnx for your comments guys. Guess I'll just go with the original picture. It was taken outside on an overcast day, with a little fill-in flash from the camera's on-board flash, and I worried that the original looked too flat. Tried this effect with the gradient, not really expecting it to look natural but perhaps just a little different. Couldn't make up my mind at the time if it worked or just detracted from the picture.

Needed help so I came here.

Tnx again for taking time to comment. It's appreciated :)

Try for less DOF next time if there's a brick wall in the background? ;-)

The stones in the background are not an issue, however, having the hands out of focus is - next time have her move her hands back and/or a bit more sideways. Nice subject - hope you get a chance to make some more photos with her.

It was actually some steps in the background - lol. You can see them in the link to the original picture. Tnx for the help!

You could try redoing the shadow to see if you can improve it. The problem is it starts in the wrong place. The shadow should start just to the right of the tip of her nose and the gradient transition should be shorter to look more natural.
