Wasn't sure if this qualified for a landscape, transportation or astronomy & celestial post, but here it is. May never see a shuttle and Ares rocket on the pads together again.

Thats pretty neat . it makes the Atlantis look twice the height of the shuttle when it really is close to the same height . Difference is the distance apart they are . How far apart are they , do you know ?

Shuttle Height 183 feet
Ares 1-X Height 327 feet

Pads are 1.65 miles apart and I was 2 miles from the Ares 1X

WOW , almost is twice as high ! Closer than what i thought tho . I'm surprised they are so close .

Nice shot. Did you stay for the launch? I was in Titusville, and although a bit hazy, pretty neat to watch.

Yes I saw the launch. I have an unrestricted view of the pads from both work and my house. Unfortunately, there was a big cloud that obstructed my view from about the 50 sec. mark on.
