Se Bon Ki Ra @ Elizapalooza '09

A friend of mine from Sydney recommended I check Se Bon Ki Ra out if I got the chance and stroke of luck they were on the bill at Elizapalooza. So I did.

I loved the stage setup for the indoor stage at this festival. It's not often you can get good access to photograph a drummer, but the setup here left a nice alley right behind the kit. So I lapped it up with my 16mm and got some nice wide shots. (Ironically only 1 of them I felt worked).

Earlier in the night I lined up a publicity shot of the guys in front of a semi trailer, which as it turns out you can't really see at all in the shot! bahh!! The lighting setup should be pretty obvious on that shot: 1 flash off camera via cord to my upper left. In hindsight I wish I had swapped the bass player (shaven head on the left) for the drummer (long haired, far right) as the shaven head reflects too much from my flash!!

Pretty okay posed shot (for the genre ;))

#6 looks OoF.

A bit more "face" in general would have been nice.

yeah overall i wasn't too impressed with this set. i think the 16mm didn't actually work in my favour on most of these shots.

Yup, you need faces for people regardless of what they are doing.
