I received my new Tamron 17-35mm lens a couple of days ago, and just noticed today there is a white "speck" inside the glass when looking at the back of the lens. Is this common? I took a couple of test shots with it today, & was pretty happy with the results. I was not able to notice the speck on the pix. The dust is located almost exactly dead center. I'm a little worried this may cause a problem down the road.

This has been covered in a couple of posts recently. The 'speck' almost certainly will not show up in your photos, what it boils down to is whether or not it's going to bug you knowing it's there, if it is? exchange it for another...simple!

Thanks, Paul. I guess if it is not going to show up in my photos, and it won't cause any problems (ie: auto foucus issues) I can live with it.

One other thing you may have to think of is whether the speck will affect the resale value of the lens if ever you wish to sell it on. If it were me and I'd only just purchased the lens I'd exchange it, you have nothing to lose by doing so!

I have been known to sell a lens or two when my wish list gets a little expensive ! I bought it from Ritz online, I think I might stop by the local Ritz store, and see if they can ship it back or exchange it for me.
