Dear all,

I do seriously need your help. I've bought IXUS 330 (i.e. PS 330) two weeks ago. I've followed all the instructions in the manual to install all the softwares into my PC. (I'm using Windows XP)

When all softwares have been installed, I took out the disc and connect my camera to the USB port. The manual says that XP will automatically install the WIA driver for you then.

My problem was that I'd been waited but there wasn't any automatic pop-up screen to prompt me for installation. Basically, nothing happened then!!

I've checked the system setup and it showed that a camera was connected to the PC but the driver was not installed yet. So, I reinstall the driver. Halfway through the installation, an error message appeared to say that there was error and the data was invalid.

Dear friends, please help me to solve the issue. It had bothered me quite a lot. I've tried uninstall and install many times but the problem persists.

Thanks!!

Jeff,

I would try going to your device manager, find the camera listed either in Imaging Device or Other Device, right click on the camera name, and choose Uninstall. By the way, your camera needs to be connected via USB, turned on and in the playback mode when you go into the Device Manager. (Note: If your XP system won't let you uninstall it, press ctrl+alt+del and check to see if a process is running that starts with the letters WINK. If so, it usually means that you have a variation of the Klez virus, and you'll have to disinfect your system and try this all again.) After the camera is unistalled, turn it off, then back on. This should restart the WIA driver installation, and everything should work fine.

Johnny,

Thanks for the pieve of advice. My camera is listed in the Device Manager (under Imaging Device) as 'Canon Digital Camera'. However, the problem is that the WIA driver is not installed yet! When I tried to reinstall it, The information transfer was interrupted halfway with an error pop-up screen appeared. It said it was unable to install the hardware, the data is invalid.

Hence, I'm not sure whether it is a problem due to the corrupted installation file, the camera or the USB port.

I've uninstall everything and tried again but the problem exists. I've even tried to downloaded the WIA driver installation file (instead of using the Solution Disc) but the problem was the same.

Anyone, please help!!! It is very frustrating if you can't even upload your beautiful pictures into your PC.

thanks Johnny again.

Hey all,

I've solved my problem. What I did was to reinstall my Windowns XP so that all the default setting will be there. And once I connected my camera, the driver installation continued without error. Thanks for your attention!
