Cute girl, but I got a feeling of bit too "close and personal"

Good work. The images are sharp and you really capture the spirit of the little girl. I like no.1 the best.

Lovely shots, I like 2 & 3 best too. Not sure why, maybe because her eyes are open more. They are good in B&W, but I would like to see them in colour too.

I also like 2 and 3 better, The first one looks like an everyday snapshot. The 2nd and 3rd really accentuate her eyes and I like the hair on her face and the feeling of energy and happiness I get from them.

2 & 3 do it for me too. Maybe the 1st has been cropped a little too tight at the bottom

There's a little devil lurking in her eyes in #1! Nice shots.

I like the last two, however I have to thank you for the first one, I find myself cropping close and now realize how other see it.

Nice images, but I assume taken at a very short focal length.

(Or ... she's a bit on the chubby side  )

Best regards,
Andy

They are cute images but the gray scale is really flat - no true blacks or whites. Just for fun open the image in PS, go "adjust brightness/contrast", select "levels", and you will see a histogram. You will notice the light values are all concentrated in the middle. To bring up the highlights and blacks - move the little sliders on either side towards the middle slowly - or just hit the "auto" button. It will give you an example with a more evenly saturated image across the grey scale. You may like it - or not... but give it a try.

What he said but do it in the raw if you can. The pics are cute but flat. They need some contrast IMO.

Oops, sorry, I see they are Fuji pics and I don't know about raw there...

Certainly will work with jpegs, tif, etc. I just find a bit more lattitude in raw. And besides, I just recently found that DPP works for the 300D. When your current favorite tool is a hammer, all your problems become nails..

absolutely agree - I use RawShooter essentials and in one interface I can do what it takes 2 or 3 to do in PS. Just letting him know that even with JPEGS you can make a lot of the color and exposure fixes that some here have elluded to can only be done with RAW.... What I do like about RAW is all your changes are not to the RAW "negative\r\original" - if you don't like it - just start over again as nothing destructive has been done to the original.

Thanks to all of your input, these were taken with a FUJI S5000 to which now I have upgraded to a Canon Rebel 300D, the pics were taken very closely to the little girl. Once again, I truly appreciate the attention I've gotten here, will keep trying to improve.

I see what he said, I think it's pretty cool to what you can do....
