No, not in Russia, but in Alaska. Many Russian families stayed when the US acquired Alaska. They continue to worship in the Russian Orthodox church, such as the one in Ninilchik. I was touched to see such respect for America's war casualties in such a place. The church is located on a nice hill overlooking the town and the bay.

The priest (who has served more than 35 years in this church) comes in every Saturday afternoon, when we just happened to be there, to give tours to visitors. He was happy to explain the essence of the Russian Orthodox religion and answer many questions. There are many beautiful icons in the church, only a few shown here.

Very nice! I love the colors!
The cemetary is very interesting, is this next to the church?

Yep, right next to it. Also, across the bay, you can see one of several "active" volcanoes.

Thanks for sharing. I particularly liked the church photo with the snowcaps in the background. :-)

I love the first one - how about a shot with the whole thing in view?
