ERROR 99 code FIX, FIX, FIX YEA

I have had the same problem with my digital rebel, I tried everything!!! I finaly found what to do to fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there is a small Watch type battery located just inside the bp511 battery compartment on the side of the area as you look down into the open Empty battery area, i found it by accident!! It says CR2016 (the disc type watch type battery) simply slide it out twards you, you will find a round battery, after replacing it you will need to reset your date and time, this will come up when you turn you camera on! im sure i lost all of my setting but who cares i can reset them! my camera works like new!! please let me know if it works for you!!

Err99 is a catch-all. It applies to any error that doesn't fall into an obvious category (lens communication, CF card problem). People have gotten it from odd lens failures, shutter failures, battery failures, . . .

i've also gotten Err99 messages on my 20D when using non-canon lenses. to clear it is you need to remove the back-up battery like you said in you message. its not a bad message, but its good to test out your equipment before the Err99 message comes up when your in a shoot. from my expirience canon bodies only like canon accessories.
