Don't know if this guy is a house finch or a purple finch?
Any suggestions on processing this one welcome.

Bonnie, it's a beautiful shot and looks exactly like the Purple finch shown in my book.

Thanks Stan! :D
I kind of like the colors... and the bokeh off of the 100-400 is incredible.
I thought it might be a purple but wasn't quite sure.

Great photo, Bonnie!
I haven't seen your purple finch or the Cassin's finch here - we have lots of house finches, and your photo doesn't look like any I've seen.

Thanks everyone.
I think the house finch is more red--this fellow definitely is ruby colored.
I should get lots of birds perching on this fence.
LOL I hung the feeder right next to it!!

Great shot Bonnie, and I agree with those who think its a purple finch. We have them here in Arkansas U.S.A. and the color varies a little (depending on time of year).

I decided I did not care for the white frames on this particular photo.
Here is another style.

I think I like #2 better - both for the dark border and the text.

Hi tupe,
Yes, thanks--I do too. I think it really helps to emphasize the light and color.
I did print this pic and it came out pretty well. :D
Strange though...I cannot seem to make the copyright symbol stick in the text line when I save the pic. Weird.

Bonnie,
Beautiful picture of a Purple Finch. Great presentation too. I really like the colors of the matts and frame in #2.

Wow, nice capture Bonnie! I have yet to see a purple finch in real life.
I like the second frame too.

Wow great shot!
I prefer the white frame though. Is there a way to see the exif data on a posted pic such as this one? Thank you.

lordjim-- I have put the exif info under the first picture. I should remember to do that always--as I like to see it in others pics too. Thanks

Does this bird look the same? Caught in the backyard but didn't know what it was. Sorry not the greatest picture of it.

I think this bird looks like a house finch. It has more real red on the breast and white barring in the wing feathers.
The birds are very similar.
