My first go at continuous shooting and AI Servo mode.

Canon 30D, 70-200 F4L and iso 1600, f4, 1/400th.

Light was getting dim and the floodlights had just come on. Background was not great to shoot against.

Rochdale won 40 - 10 against West Hartlepool in National League 3 (North)

CC welcome against my limited kit.

well done I like the 2nd best remember keep plugging away at it you will get better- on your kit its not that limited always remember action happens at very focal range

#2 best. Try to isolate action more.

I do like #1 and #2. Personally, i would have used landscape mode for action shots involving more than 2 players, especially with the majority of the movement in the horizontal direction.

As a general note: i kinda find 1/400 quite long for shooting sports. You'll see the blurring due to movement especially at #3. The keeper rate will go up a lot more at 1/500+ - i personally try never to go below 1/800.
Of course this also depends on the available light. Seems like your were already at the limits with what you have.

Keep it up :-)

Yeah, not bad. Personally, I'd bump up the iso to 3200 if you're in this lighting predicament again, since your lens is at it's f/4 max ap to achieve 1/800.

Thanks all and yes I will try and bump the iso and the landscape idea is something to think about.
