This is in Portage Valley, Alaska, a picnic/hiking area called Moose Flats. We were there looking for moose, but had no luck. Did get some pretty reflections, though. And now the punchline, it was about 11 pm when these were taken. Love those long summer days.

That is a beautiful part of the world. I sure wish to visit there some day. Nice photos and thanks for showing them.

Great shot. I like the first one the most, but the plant on the left needs cropping out.

Absolutely beautiful. I also like the first shot best, but feel the plant in the foreground helps to add depth. Just shows how opinions can differ.

Stan - Both are stunning, but I like the color of the first one better.

Stan,

Nice shots. I really like number 1. You caught a nice reflection. Looks like the light is pre noon. That's kind of early for you.

LOL Dave, you must have missed my description above. It was 11 pm in the land of the midnight sun.

Fantabulous reflection shots.
Been there three times and would go again at the drop of a hat.
Amazing to be able to read the fine print on a cereal box at 0300 hours ;-)

Thanks for the comments everyone. I included the plant to give it a frame or a little perspective. Turns out it doesn't matter much (to me) whether the plant is there or not. The shots do remind me of the magical nature of that little area that late in the evening. All it needed was a moose (but I refuse to fake it).

Magical images, especially the colour and reflection in No.1 :D

Another lot of pics from the Great Land. I can't complain! Speaking of which, if you are looking for Moose, they can be elusive, but I have seen them in a number of places, but no regularity. The most recent sighting was off the Seward Highway about 100 ft off the road in a river on Mon afternoon. Yes I know all about the long days...currenly about 19hrs 10 min of "official" daylight.
