We drove about 2.5 hours to Sierra Vista, Arizona to look for the Elegant Trogans. This nesting pair was on Ft Huachuca.
The lighting was pretty bad (didn't want to use a flash and risk disturbing them). We moved around trying to shoot between the branches and leaves, but it was worth the effort. They have a very small range in the US (southeasern Arizona) so a lot of birders will come out to look for them. Now I have proof that I've seen them.
