Just read an in depth review of the SD500 in DP Review, http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canonsd500/page9.asp and they say the AiAF intelligent focus is "erratic" and should be turned off. I haven't had my camera very long and have not experienced any problems with AiAF. Has anybody seen this problem with the SD500?? Thanks.

It struggles through glass, or in low contrast situations. Shotting through aircraft windows seems a particular problem. I've left it on though as it works 95% of the time very nicely.

Katana, thanks that makes me feel better. Like you, I will keep AiAF engaged. Thanks again.

HI. I can say that I did turn mine off. Seems like the most imporant thing to me in the shot would not hit focus most of the time. I got everything good and sharp except what I was wanting. If you have that problem later you might just want to turn it off and give it a try. I did and I am happy with the results.

Silverdog, thanks. Looks like this is something Canon needs to work on for the next version. Artificial intelligence is a good idea but in this case needs refining.
