I am very new to photography. I have read a bit on filters over the last few days. I am headed down to Orlando next week with the family. Tell me what you think of these?

Circular Polarizer

http://www.ritzcamera.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&productId=13233556&childProductId=29879

Diffusion

http://www.ritzcamera.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&productId=13234060&childProductId=29849

Lens Hood

http://www.ritzcamera.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&productId=13234064&childProductId=29852

I went in with the intention to buy a circular polarizer and a hood. They have a special where if I buy three of this brand I save an additional 33%, which basically means the diffusion filter is free.

I'm uncertain of the brand of the deal, so please let me know what you think. Oh BTW, they are for the DRebel.

Thank you,

- Gene

forget Ritz i say (and again that is only MY opinion). you don't know who made their stuff and from what i've read about all over the net, you may be getting factory rejects labled as you see them.
here is a link to a reputable filter dealer........

http://www.2filter.com/

and

http://www.camerafilters.com/

I would also pass on Ritz. I've purchased many filters from 2filter.com and I can't say a single bad thing about their serivce or products.

It's been my experience that you will only be able to use either the circ. polarizer or lens hood. With the lens hood in place, you don't have access to the polarizer to rotate it. It depends on who you talk to which one would be recommended.

I third the motion to pass up Ritz, at least for optics. The quality for most everything they sell except for known brand-name items is questionable. Almost everything with the Quantaray name is on my do-not-buy list unless I can afford to throw it away.

A screw-in lens hood is something that you might buy at Ritz, but make sure that at the widest setting (smallest focal length number) that you don't get any vignetting (dark corners in the photo).

WOW! Am I ever so glad I posted and asked!

I didn't realize that brand wasn't a "Name Brand".

Thank you all for your feedback. I'm going to check out those links now.

I see that 2Filters.com has a pretty good price!

I was re-reading...

So I can't use a filter and a hood at the same time? That being said, which should I go for? A filter or cover? I'm thinking filter but since I was off on my original post I figured I better check with you experts again!

Thanks!
