View Full Version : PS History Saving As Action?

Guys,

A quick question if i may:

I just finished messing about with a photo in PS CS and it looked great. As i was printing to 7x5 paper the first thing i did was crop to a 7x5 ratio (big mistake).
When i finished i wished i had cropped to 6x4 to fit a small frame i have in the cupboard.

Now, i had no idea how to replicate the effect i had acheived again as there were so many steps involved (as i said i was just messing). But what i did have was all the HISTORY of the changes i made.

my question is this: Can you in anyway copy your history direct to an action so you can apply it again to another image or a fresh copy of the original? This way i could grab the original file, run the action and the crop it.

Does this make sense?

many thanks

Curious re: "But what i did have was all the HISTORY of the changes i made."
PS WILL save a History (can be set in properties, I think) but doesn't save it after a file is closed, so I'm guessing that you wrote it down somewhere? If so, then you can redo a pic & save an action while you're doing it, no? Then apply it to another pic file.

Edit: 2nd thought "Can you in anyway copy your history direct to an action so you can apply it again to another image or a fresh copy of the original?" I don't think so. You'd have to make an action 1st, which isn't a bad idea if you're experimenting at the time.
