I have a question for you, the respected Macro Photographer here on POTN.
It may contain an issue of taste, or perhaps a dark sense of humor, but I feel this would be the place to ask about it.
First a little about the subjects in question:
Behind my place of work, after the last few blizzards the Paper wasp colonies had finally past on. The Queens, presumably gone for the long winter into hibernation elsewhere. What remain is a hollow husk of numerous small hives and the shell-like corpses of dozens of Paper Wasps. I have collected a five long dead paper wasps, seperated slightly in different containers. 2, in a single container with 2 other subjects, a dead roly-poly and a small beetle like insect which had previously perished. 2 together alone, and 1 with a bit of earth and a droplet of water.
Although lifeless as they all are, I query this unto you: How would you feel if I were to take it upon myself to give them life, or rather, a personality or sorts. I wonder here about the dilemma I would have if I were to perhaps, paint upon their little bodies a smiley face.
Would this be to horrible a crime against nature itself to even attempt a poke at humor, or would it be an interesting pathway into a new type of canvas?
In short, I wonder if painting upon a dead insect would be an interesting sight to see, or just made in some cruel form of bad taste?
With love,
