Some of the following are my wishes, some are repeated from other users wishes if that helps with popular demand decisions.

I've only had the camera since early June and have had limited time to play with it, but in that time I've determined some things I would like to see in the next model (I haven't read the G2 reviews yet) or in firmware updates for this model (if possible)

1) Sometimes I find that some indoor shots come out better without the flash. By default the flash is on.

I can turn it off but if I go to another mode and back, the flash is back on again. I am new to photography (with the ability to manually control stuff), so I am experimenting a lot and so I switch modes a lot.

It would be nice for it to remember your settings, at least until the camera is turned off. (I just ordered the 420ex, maybe this won't be an issue for me anymore??)

2) A zoom for manual focus would be awesome.

3) Flash exposure compensation should be quickly controllable (like the flash mode button). When shooting with Infrared filters, and forgetting to turn off the flash the picture comes out way under exposed. Turn off the flash and everything is fine.

4) Zoom in movie mode would be nice.

5) Quick review of the last shot (after the normal timed view) would be convenient instead of switching to playback mode.

6) An option to leave the lens extended. I have a lensmate and it would save time and battery power (I'd imagine).

7) A display of the cameras best guess of settings while in manual mode would be a good reference, especially while learning/experimenting.

8) Probably a naive statement but how about the ability to set the auto ISO from just 50/100 to allow for the full range?

9) I've found the preset buttons to be very useful, such as the macro mode, and flash mode. How about being able to use/program the other buttons (that I may not use) for items that are in the menu. Such as changing th ISO, or the size or quality of the picture.

My only wishes for the G1 was that the meter would function in manual mode and that manual focus could be zoomed.
Both seem to have been taken care of in the G2.

However I am not that inconvenienced by the G1 and I am not tempted to upgrade.
