hey guys -
have any of you ever gotten a filter stuck on their lens?
i got my first ever UV filter yesterday...put it on my lens...now i can't get it out hahaha
i've been..n00bed :(
any help?

hm..i spoke too soon..i got a towel then pulled, and pulled, and finally got it off..nevermind hehe..i wish i could delete this thread ..:oops:

I'll tell you the worst to get off (even when it is put on correctly) - a circular polarizer. I have trouble getting hold of the knurled edge to start it unthreading. Instead, the outer portion of the filter just wants to spin and spin. I guess if I didn't chew my fingernails, it might be easier to loosen them.

Usually you can put a rubber band on the filter & that will give you enough "grip" to turn it off.
Sometimes you have to put a ice cube in a plastic bag & rest it on the filter glass for 10 minutes. The filter will contract a bit & make it easier to screw off.

I did that awhile back too with a polarizer on my kit lens. After a bit of panicking and some choice words, I managed to get it off.
By the time I got it off, I had missed the post-storm sunset I had gone to take pictures of.
