Hi All,

I have been a religious reader of POTN for a long time now. However this is the first time I am posting any pics. We recently had a baby boy -- Aahan (he's 2 months now) and I started experimenting taking his pics. Here are few initial ones with some basic PP.

Feel free to critique the photos. I am hopeful to learn more from your comments.

thanks,
Synchro.

Wow so many views and not a single reply. I must be really bad at this.....oh man I suck.

Nope, you totally don't suck.

I like #2 and the conversion has nice contrast. The lighting looks bounced? The whites are blown out just a bit but that is probably easily fixed. What is going on at the bottom of the basket? Is that shopped?

Now I'm normally not a fan of newborns against black backgrounds as I think it is a bit harsh but it works OK with this one.

#1 I'm not so much a fan of. I think the lighting is too flat and the composition isn't too interesting with the baby's head centred.

Stick with it. Check out all of the inspirational shots in this forum from people like swimchic and cheetapita. Invest in a stand, umbrella, and off-camera trigger if you haven't already; that should be under $100.

Thanks a ton Hoff. Great tips. I am yet to buy an umbrella, have been thinking about it for a while now. I have a feeling I really need one now.
I am learning, and hope to get to a point where I will be able to take some nice pics like other folks. this is exactly the kind of feedback I was expecting.

Thanks a ton.
