Having seen a couple of threads last few days on Yosemite brought back some memories so I dug this out of my slide collection and scanned it. Taken in 1986 witn a 35mm point and shoot when I was ***teen!
Absolutely no shadow detail etc etc etc but its still one of my favourite pics!

Half Dome looked so much younger and vigorous back then. LOL
A timeless beauty that park. 8-)

Unless you have a film scanner, it's very difficult to scan a slide and get its true quality. I've scanned some slides on flatbed scanner and most require so much PS work, I finally discard most of them. I took slides of Yosemite in 1979 and scans of them aren't as good as yours.
If that is Mirror Lake, as I believe, it has changed a lot since then. More weeds and trees growing there make it tough to get a clean reflection anymore.

I do have a film scanner but I have to say not a v expensive one - I lust after a Minolta Dimage Elite 5400 for the 100+ boxes of slides yet to be scanned! I think the problem lies with the original slide as much as the scan - what do you expect from a £35 P&S!
The shot is actually taken by the river near Yosemite Village/Lodge (we were staying on one of the log cabis there) v early one morning - hence the still water.
