With the WFT-E3A wireless transmitter attached to the camera and proper software installed on the computer is it possible to see the taken picture on the computer screen right after the shutter button is released?

Yes. Same as using a cable for remote shooting.

Are you saying I can get the same results with a USB cable?

with a USB cable, you can do 'Tethered" shooting and the EOS Utility will download the images to a folder on your computer.
