Here's a quick draw shot of my Wife's Mom, taken for her upcoming birthday celebration. Sitting and eating dinner when I get a call "OK, I'm ready for my picture". Wife says "Oh, I forgot to tell you."

Shot with the 10D sitting on my newly aquired Bogen 3021 legs and 3029 pan head. Original background was vertical blinds, replaced with grey over beige in PS Elements.

I'd suggest a crop from the left about halfway up her shoulder. You missed a couple of spots on the background replacement as well like at the junction of her neck and shoulder on the right and around the hair. Looks like you got a pleasant mother in law! Nice shot of her, and good job avoiding reflections in her glasses.

Thanks for the advice. I've got to learn to be more observant. I'm actually trying to justify getting a portable background setup to avoid some of the hastle.
