I've just bought an EOS-3 that does not have an adjustable dioptric adjustment for making the viewfinder seeable by people with bad eyes. So I need to determine the right adjustment lens since they do not come in adjustable units.
I tried going into local camera stores and the workers were basically "um, I think that's something we'd have to special order from Canon" no even knowing what I was talking about. Canon recommends viewing through the adjustment lens before buying so you make sure you it is a fit for your eye strength. With that not a possibility here is my question:
Are the dioptric adjustment factors related to your eye prescription? My left eye, shooter, contact lens prescription is -4.75. Would I likely go for the -4 Dioptric Adjustment Lens (because that's a large a negative lens they make)? My Drebel has an adjustable one built in (newer design) that goes from +1 to -3 and I use it at -3 and I can manual focus and get things in focus even though the autofocus points aren't full black - light grey in the middle.
Thanks in advance.
