The waterfall setup from the African Journey exhibit at the Lincoln Park Zoo. First attempt at a long exposure waterfall photo, put the camera on top of a wooden pillar sloped downward since I didn't have a tripod. It went through a USM pass in the GIMP 2.6 (I don't remember what settings though).

Settings :

Camera : Rebel 500D/T1i
Mode : Shutter priority (Tv mode)
Shutter speed : 1 second
Aperture : f/7.1
ISO : 100
Lens : EF-S 18-55

(settings modified in PP)
Contrast : -1
Color tone : -1
Color saturation : 2
Sharpness : 7

would be much better without that vine cutting across the waterfall. But not much you can do about that.

The angle of this photo doesn't seem to help..Not bad though without a tripod. Nothing really interesting, the colors seem a little gray, not really complementing each other.

Good exposure and good color balance.

Nice!

When I looked at this, I didn't read the text and thought it was a real African scene. My impression was that it didn't look natural. There appeared to be different light sources of different predominating wavelengths. The top of the fall and the center plant appear to be illuminated by a spotlight. Everything else seems like a cooler wavelength. Then I noticed that it was a zoo shot. What kind of lighting was used?

The branch is way to distracting. Otherwise,I like the image.

Thanks everyone!

Main lighting in the scene was from a sunset while the top of the waterfall was indeed lit by 3 spotlights. There really was nothing I could do about the vine, the pillar was sloped down and the vine stretched across the entire scene.

What would be a good method of improving the colors and making them less grey?
