I have found that my fairly old cheap CF cards tranfer rate in camera are much slower than the MD. I need some more memory bad! the 1Ds is hungry for it.
Are the new 512cf cards(or even the 1GB) as fast as the MD in camera?? BTW the need to consider CF over MD is that the Jukebox 20GB storage unit I purchased will not read the MD.

Thanks in advance

you got $$ for a 1Ds... don't sacrifice on memory... Microdrives are great (I use one for my D60), but you need to be more careful as they're mor fragile than CF... plus, price per MB, you can't beat them... I got 1 gig for $279.

CF, look at the pro Lexar series, at least 24x -- yes, they're faster than Microdrives.

Also, Pretec is soon releasing (or already has) 1.5gb & 3gb CF cards.

Check out the following link:

http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?DPNo=966443&adcampaign=email,ewb03268

This advertises the high speed Lexar 256MB card for $54.99 after a $20 rebate.

I'm not sure you can beat that with a stick.

I just ordered a 512MB CF card from eCost for $99 after a $50 rebate. I'm thinking of ordering a couple of the high speed cards as well and using them when I do require the speed.

Bottom line to my way of thinking is the folks that build these things aren't selling them like they would like so we'll see mo' better deals as time goes on and I'll echo: you Ds guys, money shouldn't be that big an object! Go for the speed.
