I found it on B&H for $989.95. Is that a good price considering that it also comes with the 1GB card??

B&H is a good supplier, whatever they're charging is most likely reasonable. You could check prices on froogle.com, but also use resellerratings.com to check out if it's from a good store.

Also, there have been problems reported with the Lexar 80x cards, personally i'd recommend a sandisk Ultra II.

Not always. My Sigma 12-24mm they wanted $700 and I bought it at Digital Foto Club aka Focus Camera's sister site for $550.

Do a search on www.shopping.com it's the best price search engine out there. That's where I look first.

www.beachcamera.com has the Rebel XT with the lens for $845.00 and free ground shipping. Not a bad deal compared to what you were looking at. Beach is a great seller - bought from them many times......

I got mine from DELL with no memory for about 750 (with kit lens) after huge discounts and a coupon. If you can hold out for a nice deal.
I then also got a 1gig Memoey card from Staples which I price matched to newegg.com (also a very nice computer related merchant) and used a gift certificate from my credit card rewards program, the card ended up csting me $35. And this is for a high speed card.

Most people would not be willing ot go through such pain for a camera purchase. But thi swas the most expensive camera I've ever purchased. I'm only starting to get into photography.
