So,
My mother is going on a trip to Japan in a few days, and asked me if there was anything I would like!
I was wondering if anyone knew of any cool Canon gear she could pick me up in the "homeland" of my 40D :)
Is DSLR gear decently priced over there? I was thinking maybe there was some cool accessory for sale not available in the U.S. market, or even a Japanese spec grip would be kinda neat...
Anyways, feel free to contribute if you know of anything worth getting!

Hi Christian -
At $1 = Yen 90(+-), no bargains here I am afraid. Fantastic selections, but steep prices. I live here and buy most Canon gear at B&H and ship it here cheaper than buying it here or have a friend bring it. Some may know of bargains though.

+1 with John. I lived there for over 4 years, and everything was over priced even when the exchange rate was "good".
There are tons of other little things there, but nothing is what I would call "cheap".

I was afraid of that answer... it seems like we pretty much always have the "best" deals here in the U.S.
Kind of strange you'd think Canon gear would be more affordable since its made over there!

Something to do with taxes and duties etc. We allow foreign countries to sell here with no taxes, while in Japan, they tack on a ton of taxes (hence why most electronics cost more).

You can get fashion tips in Japan. Man, everyone looks like ZIggy Stardust. Well, at least the young guys do.

They took too long to develop and release the M80.. Netbooks have now caught on.
Too bad.. they take BP-511's...
