I visited Rickett's Glen for the time this morning. I was amazed at how many great waterfalls can be seen there. These two pictures are an attempt to capture the serene atmosphere, but they just don't do it justice. You must see it and appreciate for yourself. Anyhow, here goes....

They all are great, but I like the last one the best. Thanks for sharing.

I feel much the same as Leo but prefer the first one
One can almost hear the noise of the water - great capture

Morpheus: it was a dark day and the canopy of the trees provided some good cover from the sun. I shot the whole time at f22, ISO 100, with an el-cheapo Quantaray polarizer. The polarizer helps quite a bit to bring out the colors and tone down the whiteness of the water. I used a cable release and tripod and even had to wait a few times for a big cloud to provide additional darkness.

I like them all, but the first one is the best IMO

I like them all. Where is this place?

Sparker1: It's quite literally just a campground in Northeastern PA. I had no idea about all the waterfalls until I got there. Beyond all the falls, there is a beach and a beautiful lake. My trip was just to look around and see if it was worth it, but it has quickly turned into an obsession for a weekend photo tour. The website can provide more info: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/rickettsglen.aspx

I think 2 days is the minimum to truly enjoy the sights. You could do a week there if you had a way to charge your camera batteries.

Due to size limitations, I only posted the smallest pics in my gallery. Please check out the entire waterfalls pictures at http://photos.girvens.com/RickettsGlen/.

I love the photography!! I try to take the same pictures but they just don’t come out as good. I am very critical of my own work as is everybody.
Lighting is one of the main problems for me. I have an area where I like to photograph but I haven’t been able to pin down the correct time of day to photograph. Here in Las Vegas I don’t get many chances to photograph streams. We have a tremendous amount of snow melt up on Mt. Charleston and the dry stream beds are exploding with great photographic opportunities. I am going to try my luck tomorrow.
