I'm having a problem getting the LCD brightness to accuratly show me how my shots are comming out, they will look fine on the camera, but when I download them, they come out too dark. Any suggestions on a good setting?

Thanks!

Johnny

Unfortunately not. The LCD is simply not good enough.

The best way to check exposure is to use the histogram.

Do not depend on the LCD brightness to mean anything. It is not calibrated.

What you can trust, though, is the histogram.

Histogram all the way - I use the lcd display to check for focus or sharpness - but you have to check the histogram for proper exposure on the 300D. Other cameras may be different - but the 300D LCD will cause problems if you rely on it for exposure information.

have exactly the same problem! I just try to bear this in mind when taking my concert shots and expose for that bit longer

The best way to check exposure is to use the histogram. I'm going to edit what Tommy said to read, " The ONLY way to check exposure is to use the histogram."!

Learn to use the histogram. That is the only way in camera to verify the exposure.

On top of using histogram, check your monitor. Make sure it is calibrated. Pictures come out from my CRT are way darker than from the camera LCD, but when i view it at work using a newer CRT, the pictures look fine.

I know my monitor is calibrated, Its a 17" LCD that I use for work (I do a lot of graphic design and web design)

I was hoping there was a faster way then checking the Histo, Guess not. But, on the plus side, I picked up a light meter, this should also help me out when using my flash setup

Thanks!
