Hi All,

Looking to purchase some AA rechargeable batteries and wanted to find out what brand of battery people are using and recommend.

Thanks & regards,
Clayton

To add some additional information, main purpose of use would be for my 550 EX Speedlite and my battery pack if for what ever reason the 2 batteries in my 50D go flat!

Eneloop. If you scroll down and click on one of those topics at the bottom. you'll see that it's recommended by a lot here including myself.

+1 for Eneloops. They are the best at holding a charge. There are some other brands of ultra low discharge rechargables (duracell, imedion) but they are new and don't have a track record on reliability. I found the best prices for eneloops on EBay or at Thomas Distributing unless Costco puts them on rebate again

or HHGregg will have them again. They used to carry it a few months ago, bought 40 of these from them for $7.99/pack of 4. Went there a couple of weeks ago, they don't have it anymore.

Depends on what you are doing.

Eneloops if you are shooting occasionally, and don't want to have to worry about your batteries loosing a charge sitting in your bag.

or

Energizer 2500mah for the longer lasting, faster recharging batteries. I have 20 something of these and they are great!

I will disagree.... not 6 months later and 2 of the 4 will not charge at all... I have tried several chargers.

No issues with them at all. I have had problems with energizers

What about Energizer Rechargeable 2450mAh? I got them for $10 at walmart, and they seem to be holding up well so far. I have not pushed them to the limits and I have yet to see them run out of juice. The real test will come over this weekend when I have a wedding I will be shooting, so I will see how well they hold up.

haha yup, maybe it was just a bad batch of them or something, just voicing my opinion that I am not too impressed with them, I expected more from them thats all. My energizers seem to last longer anyways

I use Energizer 2450mah and 2500mah and rarely need to switch them out before the day is done. I usually just top them up quickly the night before a shoot. They are cheap online and you can carry lots of spares (if you need them). Never have any problems with them and been using them for almost a year every other weekend.

I have about 24 that I rotate in 3 flashes, PW's and CP-E4.

However they do not do well in a battery grip for the 5DMKII, not sure why but they get drained quickly especially taking video.

I use "kodak pre-charged" batteries. Same tech and quality as the Sanyo eneloops and you can get a 4 pack at walmart, target, etc. for under $10.

Good to hear that someone else use Energizers as well, even though everyone recommends Eneloops. I bought my Energizers from about 6 months now, and I have yet to see them run out of juice on me. I have yet to have a NEED to charge them. I only charge them when I have an shoot or event. Over time, I will see how well they hold up.

I just ordered two Sanyo chargers that have 4 AA included and an 8 pack of AA eneloops. I think this will be perfect for the 580EX II I will be ordering.

The 2450mah are the new ones I believe. I haven't seen any 2500mah recently, so I'm assuming they replaced them.

PowerEX 2700mAh from Maha, second to none! And get it from http://www.thomasdistributing.com/.
Be sure to get a good charger, Maha MH-C801D, LaCrosse LC-BC-9009, Maha MH-C9000, etc, it will make your battery last much longer.

Just bought the eneloops from Costco with a $9 rebate. 8 AA's, 2 AAA,s, charger, 4 C spacers and 4 d spacers for $19. Is that a good price?

It's only about half off, so, yeah. ;)
