16 bit tiff files

I have downloaded raw files from my d60 and converted to 16 bit tiff but photoshop 7 won't open them.
It says not enough ram and I have 512 installed.
running windows xp pro
memory usage set to 75%
I only have one hard drive.
files will open in ifranview browser.

Jonny,

PS will assign 75% (your specified usage) of AVAILABLE ram. If you have other applications open and then open PS, available ram will be reduced. If you had other apps open, try closing everything and then opening PS.
